Devon Holidays, Dawlish Warren

Dawlish Warren is an excellent starting point for visiting some
of the most popular and best loved places of interest, parks, towns and
villages in South Devon. Close by is the world famous Dawlish Warren
nature reserve with its vast range of protected bird species, animals
and plant life. Dawlish Warren has a golf course and there are superb
walks to be had, along with first rate fishing facilities. The beaches
are clean and attract the blue flag award.
Dawlish town is a charming place where you can sit among the palm
trees and watch the waterfowl from all over the world including the
famous black swans. There are plenty of shops to suit the needs of
self-catering holiday makers.
Teignmouth is a popular seaside resort just along the coast from
Dawlish. It is complete with an amusements pier, sea cruises and
numerous shops and restaurants. Walking through the back streets,
particularly on the river side, shows Teignmouth to be a town with a
strong history and rugged beauty with excellent views of Dartmoor in
the distance.
Shaldon is a pretty village 'across the water' from Teignmouth
accessible by ferry or across the bridge further down the river. One of
the interesting attractions for tourists is Ness Cove, a secluded beach
accessed through Smugglers tunnel.
Newton Abbot is a bustling market town with 'market day' every
Wednesday. This town is the 'Gateway to the Moors' and a day-trip to
Dartmoor is a must for visitors to the area. A day or more in
Torquay 'Queen of the Riveria' is also recommended, along with the historic
city of Exeter which is a short car ride away from the Welcome Family
Holiday Park.
